About us
The Prabhuji Food Distribution Program is a nonprofit humanitarian initiative of the Prabhuji Mission, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Today, the program serves over 1,500 individuals each month across Greene County and neighboring regions by providing free, nutritious food with dignity and care.
Our service began in 2007 in New York City as a food rescue initiative founded by Prabhuji, H.H. Avadhūta Śrī Bhaktivedānta Yogācārya Ramakrishnananda Bābājī Maharaja. For many years, the program supported charitable organizations throughout the NYC metropolitan area in their fight against hunger.
In 2014, the program expanded to provide direct food distribution, offering weekly assistance to families in need. What began as a small pantry serving just a few households has grown into a regional hub — ensuring that no neighbor goes hungry.
Operated by ministers of the Prabhuji Mission and supported by dedicated volunteers, the program distributes food with love, respect, consistency, and care.
We Serve with Respect
We serve all people equally — regardless of background, race, religion, gender, or status.
Every week, rain or shine, in the heat of summer or the cold of winter, we distribute fresh food with dignity, warmth, and care.
For us, food assistance is more than logistics. It is not just what we give, but how we give — with attention, kindness, and sincere respect for each person we serve.
Because to Love Is to Serve
The program was founded by Prabhuji as an expression of seva — selfless service — inspired by the spiritual realization that every soul is a manifestation of the Divine.
For Prabhuji, extending a hand to someone in need is not simply an act of charity — it is a sacred act of love and worship.
